Big Dropper Rigs 65 kg
Flexiwing Rigs 20-37kg
Pocket Sled Rigs 8-24kg

Weighing in at less than one third of the weight of a delta kite of the same size, the light wind performance of the inflatable kites has to be seen to be believed.

The larger sizes of the new kite will remain aloft in winds between one to two knots and deliver real fishing pull in two to five knots of wind.

The inflatable kites have no spars, instead, air bladders fit inside pockets sewn onto the kite and once inflated give the kite its shape. The air bladders are fitted with a non-return valve so are self sealing.

To deflate the bladders a straw is simply inserted into the valve.

The inflatable kites are specialist light wind kites.

If the wind is too strong for the kite, such as when flying a light wind kite in a gale, it may fold or crease during strong gusts, but will often reform and continue flying as soon as the gust has passed.

As the new kites cannot dive to the bottom and are recovered easily on the surface there is almost no chance of damaging the kite on the sea bed or overloading the kite or kiteline. The new inflatable kites have no flapping trailing edge so the chances of fraying are also minimised.

The air bladders will last well if looked after (keep them away from sharp objects) and each bladder will often last 10 or more fishing trips, spare bladders are provided with the kites and extra spares are available at around a dollar each if required.

Kite fishers in light wind areas, particularly those around the central North Island and Bay of Plenty will not only achieve all the above benefits, they will also be able to kite fish the light early morning offshore breezes that often blow from just after sunrise until mid morning.

West coast fishers will be amazed at the power of the new kites which will allow faster setting through the strong longshore current and better holding of the rig against the rip once it is set.

The kites can be tacked up to 40 degrees off the wind so regardless of where you kite fish, or which kitefishing rig you use, the new inflatable fishing kites will considerably increase the number of fishable days and drastically reduce the chance of any mishap to kite or gear while you are out there.
