Snapper can be caught all year round. An excellent area for big snapper from March to early December.

Schools of kahawai are common off the beach.

At the height of summer there are more smaller snapper caught. Stanmore Bay and Big Manly are busy beaches in summer with swimmers, boats, and canoes prevalent.

Stingrays can be a nuisance at times during the year.

Overcast winter days or evening fishing here is by far the most productive as the larger snapper come close to shore to munch on the larger shellfish which are inedible by the smaller snapper.
