These winds allow you to set your gear close to the beach access.

Stay at least 500 metres clear of Te Arai Point at the southern end of the beach. The rest of the beach is clear.

Strong easterly blows can sometimes cause large masses of weed to be washed ashore and causes problems for bottom setting rigs.

Floating baits from dropper rigs are best under these conditions or wait for a couple of days after the wind changes around to allow the beach to settle before setting longlines.

This beach is ideal for all kitefishing methods.

A top winter fishing spot with plenty of snapper, gurnard and kahawai year round.

More frequent catches of john dory and kingfish are taken during the summer months. Particularly exciting fishing from December to February for dropper rig fishers targeting Kingfish.
